Huajin Qiu Contemporary Fine Art

 “A work from the fusing of Chinese Calligraphy and western contemporary fine art gives a vast view of nature with levels of imagery. Speaking of the structure, as usual, I borrowed the Chinese characters NUDE and 5 scripts of BODY, resized and painted with Chinese brush in black acrylic paint. The strokes create divisions, and the shapes of women’s breasts.  I gave the elements of nature, the waters, earth, rocks, fire, and woods, the female feature on the canvas.  And inbetween the divisions, a vibrant colours were carefully composed to give layers, while at the same time, images such as skylights above the mystery river where people takes drafts from far away to gather in a shrine which seems to be grown upon a tree  in a village, an elegant female puma (or cat) jumping over trees in the starlight, rows of cottages on a golden land, hills with the bright trees far from the village, a curious dog behind a tree, something’s  (or someone ‘s ) rotating eyes with scare look hidden in the bush, the breast of the root of the tree and the colourful bushes , come to alive on the canvas.  The work opens a window for the viewers to a cheerful world.”

Huajin was inspired by the philosophy of harmony of human being and nature and a thought of anti-racism. “Human are part of the nature. Human and nature should stay in harmony. However, human beings’ social rules and moral standards actually cause the loss of their original natural essence, damaging the harmony between human being and the nature.” Huajin Qiu therefore gave all the natural elements with some of the physical feature of human being, such as the women’s breasts in this painting. “Mother nature is then physically featured as female.” And it is an unconscious of respect that is triggered when the viewers see the imagery like this.

Meanwhile, the breasts are with different colours, which the artist said he was intentionally to do this because of a thought of anti-racism. He was insulted by a horrible woman racist when he was on a city tour in Glasgow in the Boxing Day of 2009. “I just passed by and wanted to buy some burger in her take-away shop. I can’t believe my ear that she actually talked to me like that, using the phrases like ‘all your coloured-skinned people’. I thought it only happened on TV.” Huajin Qiu is an optimistic artist, who preferred to see the bright side of human nature as well as the human life. “I prefer to paint the cheerful scenes so that people can share the joy, although some of them are inspired by an unpleasant experience like this.”
